Volunteer – it will make you feel good!

The thrift store is not just your ordinary thrift store; it is a Social Enterprise. A place where youth and adults feel that they belong to a TEAM . We welcome volunteers of all abilities and disabilities and ages. Each member of our TEAM is treated with respect and dignity. We believe if you want to volunteer, why not have fun and work in a safe and friendly environment.

90% of all DYSL program funding comes from the thrift store. This makes it a very important social enterprise.

We gratefully accept donations in good/excellent condition only. We accept up-to-date clean clothing for women, men and children, books, jewelry, small furniture (no springs allowed), sporting goods, small housewares etc. We cannot accept mattresses, bedding, pillows, encyclopedias, TV’s (unless flat screen) , old computers, or larger furniture with springs.

Find out how to donate!

We try hard to recycle everything! Warm clothing, socks, sleeping bags etc. are donated to the downtown Eastside shelters. Old blankets that are not allowed to be sold go to the Delta Humane Society, and clothing or textiles that don’t meet our high standards of quality, go to a textile recycling plant. Metal and cardboard also gets picked up for recycling.

WE NEED YOUth to join our DYSL family and volunteer at our Thrift Store in Tsawwassen. YOUth between the ages of 14 - 25 are encouraged to apply. The DYSL 'WearHouse' Thrift Store will operate 7 days a week. See store hours above. Examples of jobs at the WearHouse are: sorters, pricers, cashiers, social media assistants, fashion show event assistants, display coordinators, and lots more. Learn to do one, or all, and have fun doing it!

We will provide mentorship, employment skills, references to post secondary institutions & employers, credit hours for grad transitions. Our volunteers receive a discount on merchandise as do students with ID.

Youth in Delta are conscious of their civic footprint and looking for opportunities to learn, lead and grow. Delta Youth Support Link Society exists to empower youth to live their lives to their fullest potential. We do this by providing funding to secondary schools and community groups to encourage youth in Delta to engage in leadership, social justice and environmental activities in their school community as well as the community at large. This year we funded youth initiated projects in high schools in South and North Delta to develop leadership, empowerment and volunteerism.

Please navigate through our website and join a winning team by dropping off the volunteer application form or by mailing it to our Thrift Store:

1308 56th Street, Delta, BC, V4L 2A4

No phone calls please.

Our thrift store allows Community Hour youth to complete their mandated court hours in a non-judgmental environment. We constantly hear comments from them that they actually” had fun doing their hours and the people were so nice to them”.
